Danjoo Koorliny Social Impact Summit 2020
The summit will take a very similar shape to last year (we are still co-designing it). The key difference is that the breakout sessions will be hosted throughout Djilba (August and September).
The flagship event of the Social Impact Festival will be back again this year. The sold-out 2019 summit has inspired a year-round movement for walking together towards 2029 (200 years of colonisation in Perth) and beyond. With a growing national and international audience, and with social distancing restrictions still in place in Western Australia, we wanted to ensure we have an interactive, curated, and human-hosted online option for the the summit to ensure that everyone who wants to be part of this movement can be.
The Virtual Summit will be hosted by our team to provide a connected and interactive experience. The online platform that we will use provides a virtual summit experience where you will be greeted at reception, be able to step into networking spaces during breaks, as well as connect in conversation with others from your home, workplace or community centre. The 2019 summit was designed and led by Aboriginal leaders Dr Noel Nannup, Dr Richard Walley, Prof Colleen Hayward and Carol Innes in the spirit of ‘Voice, Treaty, Truth’.
The year 2029 will mark 200 years of colonisation in Perth; we are now nine years away from that point. During the 2019 two-day summit we explored – through keynote lectures, workshops, panel presentations and yarning circles – positive change already under way in a number of social areas, and co-discovered the most important steps for moving forward.
